COMMENTS
The 197’ Medical Ship was built by Austal in 1999 under BV to Australia USL 1B, and kept under LR class since the early 2000's. She is currently surveyed to Australian NSCV 2B and managed under a flag approved ISM Safety Management System. The vessel has been constantly maintained and upgraded. The ship has routinely y returned to Australia for annual maintenance. The vessel was re-engined in January 2019, and tail shafts were withdrawn and inspected in May 2021. Last dry dock was 2022. The shallow draft of the ship allows it to enter many harbors where larger, deeper ships cannot navigate.
The vessel was refitted into a training and medical ship after a series of developments. It is equipped with a dental clinic, day procedure unit, laboratory, four patrol tenders, and accommodation for 130+ volunteers. The vessel is a registered health facility and acts as a mother ship, helping to support multiple teams working ashore simultaneously.
The ship is perfect for continued use as a floating medical facility or could be easily converted back to a shallow draft cruise ship.
